Kandahar is a 2014 Malayalam film directed by Kamal starring Mohanlal in the protagonist. The film's plot revolves around tensions between two groups of Nepalese migrant workers in Saudi Arabia and eventually into Pakistan . It has Mohanlal in dual roles, with one played by Akhil Menon playing the role of his character's son. Kandahar is Malayalam movie കന്ദ് മ മ ൌ ക ’s latest offering which was released on 31 October 2015. This movie has the tagline "Kochu Kochu Aasa" which means "A little more" in Hindi. Kandahar is directed by Kamal, the director of films like Ulsavapittennu and Parvathy Omanakuttan. Scripted by Sajeev Pazhoor, the film stars Mohanlal in dual roles of father and son; another first for him. The film was said to be story that is very close to Sajeev Pazhoor's heart ". Anjana Menon plays the female lead of Angeesa. Aju Varghese plays Hamsa, an international smuggler who delivers goods to Kandahar. Nassar, Samuthirakani, Varraj, Sai Kumar and Maniyanpilla Raju play other important roles in this film. The plot of the movie is about the men who reside in Kandahar (a place in Afghanistan). The plot is about two groups of Nepalis who work as labourers there. Satyaraj alias Satya (Mohanlal) - who settles in Pakistan is the kingpin. He gets into disputes with Vasudevan (Samuthirakani) who comes to settle down there along with his family. Satya is in love with Anjana Menon's character Angeesa. The movie has 9 songs written by O.N.V. Kurupp, Mamang Dai, Daham Muyanna, Hassan Ahmed and Uzeeel Areef. Two of these songs are sung by young singers who have previously sung in Kamal's movie Ulsavapittennu - Hamza Farooqui and Sophia Athreya. The music was composed by M G Radhakrishnan, with one song composed by Dr Ganesh Raghavendra ensemble making its way into the film’s soundtrack . In this movie, Mohanlal is seen in a double role as a father and son. This is a first for him as a double role in a Malayalam production. It also marks his first Hindi film. It was reported that Mohanlal's character's son will have to go through many problems and hardships which the movie revolves around. In an interview to Nowrunning, Kamal said that his film will be able to teach the audience about where they come from.
